To apply for child’s passport in India, it is necessary to add, either of the spouse name to the Passport. Check the FAQs from the Indian passport website for details – http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/faqServicesAvailable
When I googgled how to add a spouse name to the passport, I found BLS International Services Singapore PTE Ltd at Little India and VFS global Services at Farrer Park, both provide this service, through the Indian Embassy. I checked the BLS website and saw that it cost 20 SGD.
I had called up Mustafa to check if they provide this service but they stopped in the recent times.
Being at Little India, I decided to go for BLS International.
On the 19th of March, after work, I reached their office at Verge, opp Tekka Market, on the fourth floor at 6:30 pm. I filled out the Miscellaneous form, got my waiting number. After waiting 20 minutes my turn came and I submitted my photograph, employment pass copy, passport copy along with the original, and a copy of marriage certificate.
I was told, it will cost 36 SGD for this service and the passport will be delivered to my home or office address. When I mentioned, I can come personally to collect, they mentioned the passport will be couriered.
They charged 23 SGD for the service to add spouse’s name, 3 SGD for the SMS service, and 10 SGD for the courier service. The 13 SGD that I paid extra was for their value added services. If I had known, this service was optional, I would not have opted for it. I also came to know later they do provide facility to collect passport without the courier. Nobody answered the phone when I called them.

Yesterday, I went to their office to collect my passport. Following my feedback, BLS International services refunded the Value Added Service fee they imposed.

Do they issue the same passport or a fresh passport with a different number? Do we need to inform the MOM after adding the spouse name?

The Embassy will add the details on the same passport. You don’t need to inform MoM, since they already have your spouse details.

One more question. I’m going to submit application tomorrow. I’m not having the original marriage certificate with me now. Is the copy of marriage certificate is enough for adding the spouse name?

For spouse name add, I too made enquiry, they said need to apply fresh passport and will get new passport no.

Hi Shibish,
I presume you’re currently in Singapore. To add a spouse name to your Indian passport, go to VFS Global services or BLS International services along with the documents, which I mentioned in my post above, fill in the form that they will provide, pay the money at the counter, and then get your passport after a week.

I want renewal lndian passport in singpore.some names want change like my father old passport wrong name have (Before i submitted study certified. in side wrong have i can’t change that one.) So new passport can change name&i want add my wife name also. What document need.
