Thomas Diary - A walk through my life

28th October 2012, Sunday

Today, Geenu and I, attended City Harvest Church at Singapore Expo Hall 1 for 10 am worship service. The service started with beautiful praise and thanksgiving followed by Worship led by Sun Ho. The Anointing was beautiful during the worship especially during the song “How Great is our God”. After praise and worship, there was a brief drama session and then a video presentation of City Harvest Church volunteers helping out with elderly and needy people in Singapore. Pastor Kong thanked the volunteers for their exemplary love and care towards the elderly and needy people.

Pastor Kong started with the message on “The Good Samaritan” quoting scriptures from Luke 10. He mentioned Jesus is the Prophet, the Priest and the King. In Luke 10:25-28, we read

25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” 27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’[h] and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’[i28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”

He highlighted the Great Commandment – Loving God wholeheartedly and Loving People fervently, which consists of Devotion of Christ and Expression of Christ.

In Luke 10:29-37, we read

29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed,[j] he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Pastor Kong mentioned, there are 3 groups of the people in the Church: Priest represents the pastors, Levite represents church people and the inn keeper represents people who view everyone as potential customers without any compassion towards the needy.

The Samaritan showed the love and compassion. He was financially rich to help the man. To demonstrate God’s love, we should be financially blessed so that we can be a blessing towards others. Through the message of Good Samaritan, we see that Jesus has given us the ministry of redemption – Restoring broken lives to the fullest potential for the Glory of God.

Pastor Kong quoted Romans 5:17 and Genesis 2:7

17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

In Luke 10:19, we read

19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

In Luke 4:36, we read

36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is!For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.”

In all the four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we read, people were amazed by the authority and power by which Jesus spoke. None of the Gospels, describe Jesus’ look but they all describe the authority and power.

Pastor Kong stressed, we must exercise the authority that God has given us. He quoted an example of traffic policeman, when he steps out in the middle of the road, the vehicles follow his authority.

Pastor Kong described the revelation received by Peter in Matthew 16:16-19

16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed[d]in heaven.”

Pastor Kong mentioned Jesus built the Church on the Rock of Revelation. Breakthrough comes when we have revelation through Prayer.

Ephesians 6:17 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Mark 11:22-23 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

In Job 22:28, we read

You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.

Pastor Kong stressed there is life and death in the power of tongue.  We have the creative

power to bring things which are not into existence by the words of our mouth. There are 4 dimensions of Holy Spirit. 1. Thinking 2. Visualizing. 3. Believing 4. Speaking.  Whatever you want to create, speak.  Prayer without faith is noise, said Pastor Kong. Our Prayer, our praise, energizes God’s Angels to give us victory.

After the sermon, Pastor Kong, prayed for people who are sick, people in need of financial miracle and people gripped in the bondage of fear. There was mighty anointing as people prayed corporately. It was a beautiful time. People were led into worship. The anointing was powerful. We enjoyed every moment. The service finally ended with praise.

Later we had lunch from the food court, did shopping at Metro Exhibition, and then headed back home by taxi. Praise God for a wonderful time.
