Recollections of message by L.T. Jeyachandran at the Seed Conference on 7th Sept 2013,8:50 PM
Luke 22:24-25
24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. 25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
John 15:9
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
How do we know Christians? Jesus gives a relational criteria – love another. When we make disciples, do we have relation criteria? Normally we invite people into our Church instead of having a relation.
All relationship involves 2 things:
John 13:12
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
Identity is not what you do, but what you are. We are led because identity is the source.
Revelation 3:12
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
We must think of ourselves as a Body of Christ and not as an individual. Two imperfect people willing to wash each other’s feet
John 13:6-8
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. 8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
Every day we trip or fail. When we commit sin, we need to wash that particular sin. It doesn’t mean we need to be born again every time we commit sin. We should be able to wash other’s feet. Jesus says, you must wash other’s feet. When you are correcting others, you take the position lower over others. We must speak from the position of weakness.
To the woman caught in adultery, Jesus tells, he who is without sin let him throw the stone first. By not throwing the first stone, Jesus without speaking a single word, brought victory to her.
John 17:24
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jesus was sensitive. He knew the call of God. Jesus started His ministry by choosing disciples. They were imperfect. But He was committed to His disciples. He washed the disciples feet. The only way to treat enemy is to love him.
The session ended at 10 pm. Praise God 🙂
