Thomas Diary - A walk through my life

3-March-2013, Sunday

On Sunday, I attended the City Harvest Church service at Singapore Expo Hall 1. I left home at 8:45 am and managed to reach the church 10 minutes before the service. Praise God that I arrived on time for the service 🙂

The service started with beautiful praise. It’s an awesome sight to see an audience of more than 7000 people coming together for praise and worship, raising hands and adoring the Glorious Presence Of God.

During worship, Pastor Kong took the stage and encouraged the church to linger into the Presence of God. The presence of God was awesome as people pressed into the Holy of Holies.

After praise and worship, we recited the Lord’s prayer and the Declaration of Faith before partaking the Holy Communion.

Later Pastor Kong took the charge and shared the sermon on “Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation“.  Quoting from a book of Daniel J. Boorstin, he mentioned that the ministry of Apostle Paul ranks number one among the most influential people for the spread of Christianity. Paul, after his encounter with the Lord on the road to Damascus and after receiving a number of revelations from the Lord, was used mightily to witness about Jesus.

2 Corinthians 12

12 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

It was Paul who received the revelation of the events that followed after the crucifixion of Jesus.  The four gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John records the events during their walk with Jesus but Paul had the photograph of redemption. He could see beyond the naked eye.

2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Philippians 4:13

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Colossians 2:10

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Paul was suffering in prison when he wrote all these letters. Paul lived a life of revelation. His inner man was stronger than the outward crisis.

Ephesians 1:17-23

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

The more we get the revelation, the more our hearts will be flooded with light. It’s God’s desire that we understand the mysteries and secrets of what Christ has done. We got to have clear picture of who we are and what we have in Jesus Christ. Paul knew what happened from the Cross to the Throne by the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation.

The whole Bible was written by the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation. Paul saw the x-ray view of death, burial and ascension of Christ. It’s Paul’s prayer that we get the same deep revelation.

Paul prayed for 3 main areas:

  1. Paul prayed for the Revelation of your calling.
Ephesians 1:1818 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints
Proverbs 29:18 18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Pastor Kong shared that you must have a redemptive revelation which will fulfill you, make you a blessing and glorify the name of God.
Philippians 3:1414 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus
High calling will cost you more than the low calling. The high calling of Apostle Paul cost him suffering but it impacted the whole world. “Understanding your identity in Christ is the center of the whole Gospel. We have a new identity the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life.  God wipes away all our past records and then gives us a new address. If you stay in Christ, devil cannot come to steal, kill and destroy” quoted Pastor Kong.Galatians 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
  2. Paul prayed for Revelation of inheritance we have in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:1818 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
Romans 8:1717 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.Equal position means equal possession, everything Jesus has belongs to us, said Pastor Kong.
  3. Paul prayed for the Revelation of your authority
Ephesians 1:1919 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power. The resurrection of Jesus was the greatest power than anything else.  Paul saw everything by revelation. When God raised Jesus from hell to throne, Paul must have seen something powerful.

    1 John 3:8
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 2 Peter 3:10 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Every one of us should realize the power which is in us that will overcome all the obstacles of hell. This power will deliver us from devil’s activities and bondage. We must boldly ask God for the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to know what we have in Jesus Christ and to realize who we are. Every Christian will face barriers and challenges even if we are in the will of God, said Pastor Kong.

Every breakthrough in faith is the breakthrough in revelation. Without revelation there is no breakthrough, said Pastor Kong.

How do we get the Revelation?

  1. By Repetition of the Word.
1 Corinthians 3:66 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. No matter, how good the seed or the soil is, you must water it again and again. Repetition is the watering process. The key to increase is the repetition. People tend to reject the watering process because they think that they know it already. Increase and breakthrough comes through repetition. You must water it again and again. Repetition gives forth revelation, said Pastor Kong.
  2. Yieldedness to the Holy Spirit. Quoting Pastor David Yonggi Cho, he mentioned that the Holy Spirit doesn’t speak to the ‘smart’ people. You must come to God as a little child to get the revelation of God.  God wants us to have child like wonder when we read the Word of God.
Psalm 24:3-5 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. God wants us to move higher and higher in fellowship with Him.
  3. Through confession of the mouth. Our faith will not work unless we confess the promises of God.

Pastor Kong then led the people into worship. The Power of God was awesome. People joined hands across the isles. Under the anointing, Pastor Kong rebuked the spirit of sickness and disease and prayed for healing, deliverance and financial miracle over the lives. The anointing was powerful as people prayed together.

Finally, the service ended with the beautiful praise “We Believe”.

Praise God for a wonderful time 🙂
