IELTS Speaking Test
My IELTS Speaking Test was held at the British Council, Napier Road, Singapore. The examiner was an elderly gentleman, probably in his late seventies. He began by introducing himself and then asked me a few general questions about my hometown, my study preferences, and the advantages and disadvantages of group study.
Next, I was asked to describe a man I admire the most and explain why I admire him. Other questions included:
-
What was my favourite book during my childhood?
-
How often do I read books?
-
What problems do the younger generation face in modern working life?
-
Is it appropriate for younger people to earn a higher income than older people?
-
Would I prefer to live in the countryside or the city during old age?
-
Which group of people earn the least income in my country?
-
Which industries offer better salaries?
-
What are the working conditions like for construction workers?
IELTS Reading, Writing, and Listening Tests
For the Writing Test, the first task required us to write a letter to the airline management, complaining about a bad experience with one of the airline crew members.
The second task was about my views on the modernisation. The question asked whether heritage cities should be upgraded with modern technologies or preserved in their original form.
Here is my IELTS score.
