On Sunday, 19th Aug 2012, Geenu and I, attended City Harvest Church at Suntec Convention center. The Praise and Worship was led by Cindy Redcliff, a mighty worship leader from Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church, Texas, USA . It was an awesome Praise and Worship that lasted for about 45 minutes. After the praise and worship, there was a video of her testimony for 5 minutes. Later her husband greeted the Church and gave a short speech of lessons that he learnt during his valley experience 1. Surround your self always with good people who will keep you in their prayers during your difficult times. 2. Speak positive words to your situation. The Bible says there is life and death in your tongue, so speak positive words. 3. Have Faith in God always. In the Book of Jeremiah, God says, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me and I will listen to You.
Later Pastor Kong gave sermon quoting Psalm 77 from Bible. There are times doubt and unbelief invades our mind when we go through the valley experience.
In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; my hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; my soul refused to be comforted. I remembered God and was troubled; I complained and my spirit was overwhelmed.
When we are in trouble, we should not rely on prayer as a technique but as a means of intimacy between God and us. We must meditate on God’s greatness for He is greater than our problems.
There are 3 things that we must do:
- Meditate on God’s greatness. Psalm 77:11-14, Hebrews 2:11
- God’s plan is redemptive. Redeem means to restore something that is broken down to usefulness. God will turn your pain and heartache into something useful that will help the people.
- Don’t’ fear your fears. Psalm 77:16 – The waters saw You, O God: The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled. In the Old testament we see that the very thing people were afraid of was afraid of God. People were afraid of Red sea but God parted Red sea. In the New testament we see disciples afraid of storm, but Jesus rebuked the storm and it was calm. The Bible says, God cares for us. 1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 77:20. No matter, what you’re going through, Jesus cares for you.
Later, after sermon, he invited Cindy Redcliff and her team on stage and asked people to Pray in tongues. At this time, when she sang, there was a mighty power of God. The anointing was beautiful. Pastor Kong gave altar call to people who had not accepted Jesus as their Savior or had backslidden from their faith. People came forward and dedicated their lives to Jesus and accepted Jesus as their Savior.
Finally the service came to an end and we went for lunch at Soup of the day, Raffles city. After that, we had delicious cake and ice-cream from Ben and Jerry. At 2 pm, we boarded bus 16 opposite Suntec city to Emmanuel Assemblies of God for Malayalam fellowship. We reached there around 2:45 pm. At 3 pm, brother Geogy led the praise and worship in both Malayalam and English. The anointing was beautiful when he led the Praise and Worship.
Later, we had Holy Communion. We ate bread and grape juice. The bread represents Jesus’ body for our healing and juice represents Jesus’ blood for forgiveness from our sins.
After the Holy Communion, Pastor Roy shared the message on claiming the Promises of God. He mentioned that we can claim God’s promises through the Word of God, through dreams and visions, through prophecy by a man of God or even through a word of Faith spoken by friends to our situation.
He quoted verses from Hebrew 6:10-12, For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints and do minister. And we desire that each of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end that you do not become sluggish but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
In Romans 4:17, we see how Abraham inherited God’s promise, In the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; who contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of may nations, according to what was spoken, “ So shall your descendants be”, And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead and deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore it was accounted to him for righteousness.
In 2 Kings 6: 5 to 7, we read about how the lost iron axe was recovered by casting wood (symbolic of Word of God) into water.
2 Peter 1:3 – Grace and Peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine Power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises that through these you may be partakers of divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. It’s the same Power of God in that we read in 1 Peter 1:5 : who are kept by the Power of God through faith for salvation ready to be reveled in the last time.
We read in 2 Corinthians 7:1: Therefore having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Later after service, we went to Singapore General Hospital, Outram Park to visit an appachen who underwent knee replacement. It was 7:40 pm when we left hospital. We took MRT to Bishan and had Mediterranean baked fish for dinner from Manhattan Fish Market. Then after shopping groceries at NTUC, we finally reached home at 9:30 PM.
