Thomas Diary - A walk through my life

On 21st May, 2011, Geenu and I, decided to attend Saturday worship service in Suntec Convention Center, Singapore, at 5:30 PM by Dr. John Avanzini. We usually attend the 10 am service on Sundays but this time there were no services on Sunday.

In the morning, I called up my brother in Bangalore and wished him a happy birthday.  After having lunch, we left home at 3: 45 pm and took bus to Eunos station and from there we boarded MRT to City Hall. As we reached the station, we could see a huge exodus of people in the station, who attended the 3 PM service.

Reaching Convention center, we took the seats near to stage with the help of an usher. The service started with praise and worship. The worship time was awesome. The atmosphere was charged with God’s anointing. Later Pastor Kong came up on the stage and led the people into worship. The Presence of God was beautiful. There was a blanket of anointing all around the auditorium.

After the praise and worship, it was offering time. People responded to the sacrificial giving and God’s promises of blessing to every cheerful giver.

Later, Pastor Kong spoke about mission trip to earthquake affected regions in Japan and the role of City Harvest Church in meeting the needs of the affected people over there. The Church is donating trucks, bicycles, blankets, food and supplies, and other necessities for the relief work.  They are also assisting in speeding up the relief work.

Then Pastor Kong welcomed Dr. John Avanzini to the stage. It was also John Avanzini’s 75th birthday.  The board members and the CHC founders cut a beautiful cake.  Later John Avanzini gave the message about “Expectation precedes Manifestation”. I could sense the mighty anointing as he preached about keeping your expectation alive which is twin sister of faith.

He quoted numerous examples from Bible where God’s holy men did not let go of their expectation.

 Genesis 13

14 And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants[b] forever. 16 And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. 17 Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”

Lesson: Sometimes, it’s necessary for you to move away from people even from your own relatives before God can bless you.
Genesis 15

1 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
2 But Abram said, “Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”
4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” 5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

Lesson: Visualize your Expectation

1 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the LORD. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”  “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” 3 Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. 4 Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”5 She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. 6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

Lesson: Obey the instruction from a Prophet of God for you to Prosper.

1 Kings 18

41 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” 42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. 43 “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.” 44 The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’” 45 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. 46 The power of the LORD came on Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

Lesson:  As the small cloud, which resulted in heavy rain, you may be having a small possession or ability, but with God, it can become a mighty outpouring of blessing in your life. It’s like, a mustard seed, which becomes a giant tree. Visualize the bigger and greater blessings in your seemingly small ability or possession.

Acts 3

1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.

6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Lesson:  The beggar expected only a small blessing, but God provided even more than he asked for.  God is a mighty God who provides more than we ask for and think of.

Malachi 3

10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the LORD of hosts,
   “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.

11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the LORD of hosts;
12 And all nations will call you blessed,
For you will be a delightful land,”
Says the LORD of hosts.

Deuteronomy 28:2

And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God:

How to keep your Expectation Strong?

 Proverbs 29:18

18Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Lesson: Have a progressive vision

Psalm 118 21 I will praise You,
For You have answered me,
And have become my salvation.
22 The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
23 This was the LORD’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day the LORD has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save now, I pray, O LORD;
O LORD, I pray, send now prosperity.

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!
We have blessed you from the house of the LORD.
27 God is the LORD,
And He has given us light;
Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise You;
You are my God, I will exalt You.
29 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
