Meeting with Pastor Shyju Matthew in Singapore

It was an awesome Holy Spirit anointed session in Singapore by Pastor Shyju Matthew from the Revive Nations ministry. I heard about Shyju Matthew first through my wife who attended his meetings while in Chennai.

I was impressed with his style of leading people into God’s Presence through worship. To me, it resembled Benny Hinn meetings. Here is a brief excerpt of his messages.

Luke 13:10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

The woman was disabled for 18 years. Irrespective of her health situation, she still came to the synagogue.

There is nothing that can qualify us for the miracle. Miracles are His mercy. Her only qualification was her availability.

Every attack of the enemy has only one objective – to take you away from Jesus. The devil wants you to doubt God.  He wants you to walk away from God.  The woman kept coming into the Presence of God. Your reward is you love Jesus.

God is drawn to the worshipper. A worshipper is somebody who worships God for who He is and not what he can get.

God is not looking for cute Christians. He’s looking for passionate Christians. He hates lukewarm Christians.

Jesus asked Peter – Do you love me more than these. He’s looking for somebody on fire. God’s attracted to a group of people who prays without ceasing.

After a short message, he led the people into God’s Presence. The Anointing was powerful. The Presence of God beautiful.

Mark 14:3-6

And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head. 4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply.

6 But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done good work for Me.

The only person who can ask everything from you is somebody who has given you His everything. When Jesus came to earth, He gave up his glory. He shed His own precious blood. He gave up everything for you.

God will not allow religious Christianity. He will not allow lukewarm Christians. It was a marvelous revelation to me when he said that too many Christians get so familiar with Jesus that they start judging people like Pharisees. We start judging everyone instead of being in awe of Jesus. We should not be in the seat of familiarity but in the seat of humility.

There was one sinner who had the revelation of who Jesus was and she sat at the feet of Jesus. By coming down to the feet of Jesus, she elevated herself to the highest place. The Pharisees thought they were the only ones with the VIP pass.

Only a true worshipper has access to Jesus. Access comes to people who know how to honor Jesus. Honor Him with your substance.

There was another marvelous revelation when he said that “She didn’t own the jar of perfume, but the jar of perfume owned her. She decided to break that jar in the feet of Jesus. There are some things in your life that have a hold on you. Break that at the feet of Jesus. For some of you, it might be a relationship, for some, it may be money. Whatever it is, break it at the feet of Jesus. Make a commitment that there will be nothing in my life that will hold onto my life than Jesus.”

After the sermon, he led the people into worship. Praise God for the awesome anointing.

On the final day, I couldn’t catch much of his sermon, but mostly he exhorted the audience not to be dry or cold wood, but to be wood that’s on fire. Revival has to be borne inside your heart. Revival cannot be imported. Christianity is about hosting the glory of God. We need the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in our Churches.

Unity in the flesh is like a Babel tower that God himself will tear down. But God is looking for people who’re united in the Spirit, like in the Book of Acts, when people gathered together in the Upper Room.

He then spoke about Stephen who was elected as an administrator, but people saw the Glory of God in his life. We should be a fruitful vine in the Church where we are planted. He explained about three levels of prayer – asking realm, seeking realm, and knocking realm.

After the message, there was an impartation session. It was an awesome time. Praise God.
